Finding Tingo

What does TINGO mean?

"tingo" is a word from the Easter Isles meaning:

to borrow from your friend until there is nothing left.

It's time to tingo education.

Meet the Founder:

My name is Devin Ozdogu, and I’ve been teaching since 2000. I currently teach 9th and 10th grade English. I have two Masters degrees from Stanford’s Graduate School of Education. My first Masters was in education policy with an emphasis on teacher quality under the mentorship of Linda Darling-Hammond. I then immediately re-enrolled and earned my second Masters in Secondary Teaching of English and have been a full-time teacher and teacher-educator ever since. My non-profit focuses on guiding teachers through the process of making better curricula.

The issue of teacher training, quality, and efficacy is at the heart of our educational woes in America. Until we address those issues directly, we won’t get very far because we won’t be talking about the quality of the learning activities that students engage in. While I’ll let Professor Darling-Hammond focus on the policy side of the equation by meeting with politicians and policy wonks, I’m contributing by creating resources that help guide teachers through the process of making better lessons, units, and assessments more efficiently. And, that is the goal of my non-profit: TingoEd.
